ASHES TO DUST MOUNTAIN BIKE CAMP 2013

Out of the Ashes: Into the Dust Mountain Bike Camp was held on September 10th and 11th 2013 at the Juniper Bike Ranch. Thanks to an amazingly supportive community, we were able to bring 18 male youth into the camp, gifting 17 bikes and riding gear to the youth, who tore up the trails for two-days mentored by 5 professional coaches, Brett Tippie, Shawn Melenchuk, Bodie Shandro, Paul Berry and Ted Morton. A special thanks to  Dylan Sherrard and Brett Woods for being part of the planning from the start and making our Ice Breaker Event a great success!

Thank you to our incredible volunteers:  Kathy McBride, John Robichaud, Kelsey Prinz, Tammy Kosolofski, St John Ambulance, Kamloops Paddlewheelers Lions Club and the Tk’emlups Indian Band.

Thank you to Phoenix Centre staff and Board for their support and generous contributions

TURN UP THE HEAT
The TURN UP THE HEAT Campaign officially launched February 1, 2012 has raised $21,000.00 as of the end of March, 2012. This Campaign is for the purposes of raising funds to support the replacement of the 30+ heating/cooling system by spring 2012. If the system were to fail the 20 bed inpatient detox facility would be forced to close so time is of the essence.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all those who have already supported this campaign and look forward to more support from the community. United Steel Workers Union District 3 Local 7619 has initiated a Corporate Challenge asking those in the corporate community to meet or beat their generous $5000.00 donation. AJAX Mines has met this challenge and presented a cheque for $5000.00 to the Phoenix Centre April 3, 2012. The projected cost of the replacement is $200,000.00 so we have a long way to go!
